Moolarben Coal Preparation Plant
Located in western NSW coal fields the Moolarben Coal Preparation Plant is an integral part of this mines development processing up to 8.5Mtpa.
BDS VriCon was engaged by the Engineering design team to model and detail the structural steelwork and platework.
The successful outcome for this project was a result of a very proactive and collaborative approach to provide certainty to both quality and the schedule demands.
Port Waratah Coal Terminal
The PWCS terminal on Kooragang Island is one of the largest coal export facilities in Australia.
BDS VirCon has provided modelling and detailing services for this customer over the past decade.
Along with onsite engineering collaboration BDS VirCon also provided offsite detailing resources to meet the schedule requirements.
This project further highlights our ability to mobilize experienced resources to work closely and efficiently with engineering teams for large material handling projects.
Abbot Point Coal Terminal
Located on the North Queensland coastline Abbot point is a well established coal export facility.
BDS VirCon was engaged on the X50 expansion which required us to model and detail 1300t of conveyors, transfer towers and chute work.
The schedule demands on this project were quite aggressive, however BDS VirCon’s experience in resource projects and ability to respond to the ever project change needs was instrumental in the success of this project.
Coffeen Power Station Unit 1
Unit 1 of the Coffeen Power Station is a 1600 ton Structural and Ductwork package. The structure, approximately 200 feet tall with a footprint of 122 x 72 feet, supports the 7 duct units ranging in size from 50 to 70 foot wide.
Located in Illinois USA, this was the second BDS project at Coffeen Power Station.
BDS has recently completed a further Unit 2, 600 ton ductwork expansion/upgrade. The repeat work on this site is a testament to the high level of quality and commitment to schedule that BDS has provided.
Glass Recycling Plant
This Glass Recycling Plant located in the UK consists of 34 conveyors, 3 bucket elevators, 2 cyclone filter systems, 4 crushers and 6 screens along with all the transfer stations, walkways, chutes, ducting and mechanical equipment including the idlers, drives, bearings, belts, scrapers, skirts, feeders and pneumatics all fully modeled by BDS.
Inclusion of all these items into the Tekla model allowed BDS to check the interface between the steelwork and mechanical equipment thus creating a library of the equipment for use on future projects.
Elm Road Generating Station
The Elm Road Generating Station, a power plant expansion on the shores of Lake Michigan, USA is the largest private construction project in Wisconsin’s history, and will be among the most efficient coal fired power plants in the world. The two-unit, 1 230-megawatt supercritical power plant, with a total of 31,000 tons of steel and a value of US$2.15 billion, will generate enough energy to power more than 1 million homes. Bechtel Corporation, the engineering consultants for this project, secured the services of BDS to work in conjunction with their team, assisting their development using Tekla Structures for connection modeling, in addition to detail drawing production.
B2-Bomber Hangar Observable Restoration Facility
In late 2000, ground was broken for the new 53,000 SF Whiteman Air Force Base B-2 LO Observable Restoration Facility in Johnson County, Missouri that accommodates two B-2 Bomber aircraft maintenance bays that has truss span as wide as: 205’-0” ft. with supporting administration, shops and storage spaces. The 1,500 Tons heavy structural steel facility was completed in November 2002.
Sakhalin Island
Offshore processing facility for Oil, Gas and LPG fabricated in UK, made of High Grade Steel due to the severe temperatures, minus 32 degrees, in this region. A high degree of accuracy in the detailing of this project due to distances involved in shipping, galvanizing finish and the remote region of this project lead to BDS being awarded this contract.
British Gypsum – East Leake
Expansion to British Gypsum operation consisted of the Mill Building, Conveyors, Warehouse and Homogeniser Buildings in total approx 2,000 ton.
BDS were required to provide the Durbar Floor Plate, detailed in panels with Service Penetrations, Corner Notches & lifting holes along with the NC files to enable accurate manufacture and installations. The R&D team created a Macro to advance the detailing into a single operation for each Panel.
