NASCC: The Steel Conference
The 2008 North American Steel Construction Conference was this year’s one stop-shop for information on structural steel design, detailing, fabrication, and erection. The conference attracted a record 4,000 attendees and was considered a huge success.
The Nashville Convention Hall housed more than 200 exhibitors displaying the latest products from a wide range of manufacturers and service providers to the Steel Industry. As always, BDS was represented, led by the Managing Director, Don Engler (pictured) and supported by Dave Holden from the US office and Peter Harper and Glenn Smith from our Australian office.
The conference gives BDS an opportunity to meet with our peers, discuss trends in the industry and demonstrate our expertise as well as participate in some of the 100 plus design, detailing, fabrication and erection sessions and workshops. Don was an integral part of the BIM Round Table that met on the first day of the conference to look at the opportunities being presented by the new 3 D technologies, the legal issues that are being raised and the potential savings in time and cost that might come from greater use of models during all stages of construction.
